Beatrice Alici [b.1992, Italy] attended Professor Carlo Di Raco's Atelier F at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts for seven years, where in 2016 obtained her Level I Diploma and in 2019 his Level II Diploma in Visual Arts and Disciplines of the Performing Arts, with a focus on Painting. The young Venetian artist's research is linked to the theme of Eden - understood as an archaic and timeless place, consisting of nocturnal scenes in which figures and natural landscapes merge into each other - intends to fresco a return to a purely primordial psychological space. In her highly personal imaginary world, the night depicted is fictitious, and darkness and gloom are symbolic spaces that allow her to immerse herself in creation to arrive at the representation of the innermost abysses, with a deeply introspective flavor. The figures that most frequently populate her imagery are female, who are represented with enigmatic, supernatural elements, often linked to folklore: depicted as goddesses or witches they often evoke an idyllic divine matriarchy. The use of moonlight is a further symbolic suggestion to the sphere of the sacred and the primordial muliebre and makes the scenes depicted more delicate, dreamlike, and mysterious.
