Art that dresses the eye. The Case of VANNI Eyewear

VANNI's creative approach is revolutionizing the eyewear world, combining innovative, cutting-edge design with a new way of creating contemporary art.

In recent years, more and more Made in Italy companies have invested in dialogue with art, transforming this relationship into a synergy that goes beyond mere sponsorship. For example, some brands have developed genuine capsule collections by working side by side with creatives to bring their vision to the creation of unique products. A path also taken by VANNI Eyewear, which from 2019 will be supporting Artissima, one of the most important contemporary art fairs in Italy, choosing an artist for each edition with whom to develop a collection straddling design, creativity and haute couture eyewear.

Since its beginnings more than forty years ago, the Turin-based company has always stood out in its sector thanks to its choice of materials and the technologies used in a manufacturing process that is entirely Made in Italy. Alessandra Girardi, co-owner of the company, described the link with visual art as follows: "Our glasses are not just medical devices, but real fashion accessories where design and creativity play a central role". So VANNI Eyewear aims to combine functionality and innovation, making products that tell a special story. And it is precisely this desire to experiment that has led them to explore the world of the contemporary: an apparently distant sector, but one rich in stimulating contaminations.

Thanks to the collaboration with Artissima, the brand has found inspiration to go beyond the traditional limits of design. "The art world is a great opportunity to approach new languages, bringing free creativity into the caged sector of eyewear", Girardi emphasises. This fusion allows the company to propose models that link the intrinsic meaning of the word "vision" to the aesthetic and practical context.

Specifically, the partnership between VANNI Eyewear and Artissima began with the #Artistroom Award through which the company chooses the creative designer with whom to create a collection for the following year's fair. Artissima 2024 saw the presentation of the capsule collection created with Elisa Alberti, whose work perfectly embodies the dialogue between visual practice and design. "Working with an artist means incorporating her technique into our process, giving life to objects that go beyond mere functionality" specifies Alessandra Girardi. Instead, the person who will create the collection for November 2025 will be Nicola Bizzarri, exhibited at Artissima 2024 by Galleria Fuocherello.

Such partnerships not only consolidate the brand positioning, but also provide an opportunity to explore new visions and connections with the public. "Our aim is to tell the corporate story through art, achieving a positioning that sets us apart", explains the co-owner of VANNI Eyewear.

Once again, the dialogue with art is not a means to innovate, but a strategy to connect with the territory. For a local company, participating in events such as Artissima brings vitality and dynamism that reverberate throughout the city, and the link with the environment translates into a double benefit: on the one hand the brand is enriched with stimuli, and on the other creativity finds a vehicle to reach wider and more diversified sectors.

VANNI Eyewear's experience is thus a shining example of how culture and design can work together to generate more than just aesthetic value: "Synergies between companies and artists lead to mutual growth, where creativity enriches business and vice versa", Girardi concludes.

Made in Italy is constantly evolving and finds in the artistic sector the key to limitless success.
